Freshman Year
In my freshman year, I had four classes outside of my elective; Art, Humanities, Physics, and Math. Art was taught by Ms. Amy, Humanities by Ms. Britt, Physics by Mama Quin, and Math by Mr. Mendricks and Mr. Aurmon (Drake). Our team was called the Atomic Hive. My first year of high school was nothing like what I expected it to be. Most of the work that we did at HTH this year was completely different from anything I had done before, and what we studied, we went much deeper than most classes I had been in before. Also, everything was a lot more inquiry based than in Bonita, the school I attended before coming to HTH. We had many Socratic Seminars in every class, and always had some sort of group project or activity to go along with every lesson or chapter. We had no textbooks this year at HTH, but still everything we studied was in depth, with a lot of attention on detail and answering any questions we had. Everything this year was a new experience in education to me, but I enjoyed it all, and look forward to doing it for the next three and a half years as well.
